Today's Scripture
Scripture — Matthew 6:34 (KJV)
“Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.”
The Reflection
Tomorrow can occupy so much room in our thoughts that we struggle to notice the grace God has provided for today. We imagine difficult conversations, unexpected expenses, uncertain outcomes, and problems that may never happen. In Matthew 6:34, Jesus invites us to stop adding tomorrow’s possible troubles to today’s actual responsibilities. His words do not forbid thoughtful planning; they call us to trust our heavenly Father instead of allowing worry to govern our hearts. You can prepare wisely for what lies ahead while admitting that you cannot control every outcome. God meets you in the present moment, giving you grace to do what is yours to do today. When your thoughts rush ahead, gently return to the next faithful task and remember that the future remains in His care. You do not have to solve tomorrow before you can walk with God today.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father,
You know how quickly my thoughts run toward tomorrow and everything I cannot predict. I bring You my concerns about provision, relationships, health, and the responsibilities waiting ahead. Help me recognize when wise preparation has become anxious striving. Give me wisdom to make necessary plans and humility to place their outcomes in Your hands. Teach me to receive today’s grace without demanding answers to every question about the future. When worry interrupts my peace, draw my attention back to Your faithful presence and the work before me. Strengthen me to meet today’s responsibilities with patience, courage, and trust in Your care. In Jesus’ name, I surrender tomorrow to You and ask for a heart that rests in Your love today, amen.
Meditation
Pause for a moment and notice where your mind has been traveling ahead of your feet. Name one concern about tomorrow that has been taking your attention away from today. Bring that concern to God in a simple, honest prayer, without trying to settle every possible outcome. Slowly consider Jesus’ words, “Take therefore no thought for the morrow.” Receive them as an invitation to release anxious preoccupation while remaining faithful to the responsibilities God has placed before you. Ask yourself what practical step you can take today and what uncertainty you must leave in His hands. Let your breathing settle as you remember that you can trust God even when you do not know what comes next. Carry this thought with you: I can prepare for tomorrow while receiving God’s grace for today.
